According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), electronics waste (also known as e-waste or end-of-life electronics) refers to discarded, donated, or recycled electronic devices.
Donating used (but still operating) electronics for reuse extends the lives of valuable products and keeps them out of the waste stream for a longer period of time.
It helps reduce pollution that would result from creating a new product as well as the extraction of precious, limited virgin resources for its manufacturing.
Green electronics are those that are energy efficient, have an extended product life, and are made from recycled materials.
